Stinson LLP's Session on Imposter Syndrome
Join us for this year's virtual AIPLA Women in IP Global Networking Event focused on Michelle Obama's memoir Becoming. Michelle, who in her early career was an intellectual property lawyer at Sidley Austin, details relatable struggles like finding meaningful work at different career stages, the importance of community and recognizing implicit biases.

After an initial welcome, we will break out into five different groups by topic. Stinson will host a session addressing how race and gender affect our everyday lives and careers, specifically imposter syndrome. Author and coach, Heather Whelpley, will cover how to recognize and combat imposter syndrome—that little voice in your head saying: “You don't belong in this room. You just got lucky.”

These negative thoughts can influence every aspect of your career, from pursuing clients and leadership roles to speaking up in meetings and sharing ideas.

The good news is you can do something about it! In this session we will discuss:

- How imposter syndrome impacts you
- Why you experience it
- Practical tools to recover fast when doubt and
imposter syndrome strike

We hope you are as excited as we are for this session and encourage you to read Michelle's book prior to the event. Attendees will also receive a copy of Heather's book, An Overachiever's Guide To Breaking The Rules: How to Let Go Of Perfect and Live Your Truth.
